Hey Y'all,
I’m Janna, the founder and sock designer here at Bonfolk. As a proud New Orleans native, I’m deeply connected to this city & it's culture. I take pride in creating original sock designs that are inspired by the Southern U.S. and fun things our customers love.
After graduating from The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising Los Angeles, I found myself driving through Skid Row every morning on my way to work as a women's wear designer and I couldn’t help but notice the hundreds of people experiencing homelessness. Wondering how I could make a difference, it was then that I learned from community members that socks were the #1 requested, but least donated clothing item in shelters. That’s when the idea struck me – I could use my design skills to create socks to meet this pressing need and bring the community together to make a positive impact.
In 2015, I made the bold decision to leave my full-time job and move back to my hometown with my Aussie husband Tim to start Bonfolk. It was important to me to build our brand's give-back mission on the foundation of this vibrant and unique city. From our NOLA headquarters, we're able to make a difference in communities across the country, one sock at a time.
Since our launch, we've partnered with nonprofits across the country to donate socks to those in need. We're proud to say that we've donated over 900,000 pairs socks and counting.
Over the years, our commitment to the community grew beyond simply donating socks. In 2023, we took the next step by launching our own nonprofit organization, Bonfolk Giving Good, a registered 501(c)(3).
BGG distributes the donation socks to other nonprofits in the USA. But thats not all, BGG hosts community give back events and is a part of many volunteer opportunities to further Bonfolk's positive impact. Since the start of Bonfolk, this has always been something I aspired to do, and now it's a beautiful reality!
